Day 1: Arrival Yangon
Upon arrival in Yangon, formerly known as Rangoon, you’ll be greeted by your guide who will accompany and transfer you to your hotel. This charming city has a unique colonial and spiritual heritage, making it one of the most fascinating destinations in Southeast Asia. Early check-in is subject to room availability. Day 2: Yangon City Tour
After a delicious morning breakfast, embark on a unique journey to the outskirts of Yangon by taking the local Circular Train. Enjoy the slow-traveling train ride, where you can observe the lively and colorful life of the rural Burmese people. Disembark at Kyi Myin Daing Market, a bustling marketplace full of vibrant street vendors selling colorful wares. Take some time to explore and meet the friendly locals before returning to Yangon by road.
Spend your afternoon exploring the historical attractions of downtown Yangon. Start with a visit to the majestic Old City Hall and the sprawling Maharbandoola Park. Then, take a leisurely stroll along the old streets, ending at the grand Strand Hotel. Afterward, head over to Botahtaung Pagoda, which features stunning golden decorations inside. Continue to Bogyoke Market, where you can find a variety of traditional Burmese handicrafts such as stone, wood, and bronze carvings.Next, visit Kandawgyi Park and the majestic Chaukhtetgyi Reclining Buddha Image – one of the largest in Yangon. Then, cap off the day with a visit to the iconic Shwedagon Pagoda – the highlight of Yangon and one of the wonders of the world. This ancient pagoda plays an important role in Old Burmese History, and offers a beautiful display of the sunset.

Day 3: Yangon – Heho & Inle Lake Tour
After breakfast, you will be transferred to the airport for your flight to Heho. Upon arrival, you’ll take a drive to Inle Lake to enjoy a boat ride for the whole day. The sights you’ll see include the Phaungdawoo Pagoda, home to five small Buddha images and annual festival in October – the biggest hosted at the lake. You will then venture to the Nag Phi Chaung Monastery, a wooden structure built on stilts over the lake in the 1850s, as well as the Padaung or “Copper Neck” hill tribe. Your tour will continue with visits to local shops specialising in silk, lotus and traditional iron work. If time allows, you may also visit a Shan paper making facility. Spend the night at your hotel in Inle Lake.
Day 4: Inle Lake – Indein – Inle Lake
After breakfast, explore the morning market that rotates around the villages of Inle Lake in a 5-day cycle. The market is frequented by the lake inhabitants and nearby hill tribes, who come to buy, sell, and trade their goods. Please note that the market is closed on dark moon and full moon days. Take the small canal from the middle of the lake to the Padaung village of Indein. Stroll along the covered alley that is lined on both sides with a thousand pagodas. Climb up the long-covered staircase to find the Alaung Sithu complex, where you can admire the beautiful ancient stupas hidden in the foliage, with a stunning panoramic view of the lake. After, spend your afternoon leisurely at your hotel. Stay overnight at Inle Lake.
Day 5: Inle Lake – Nyaung Shwe – Bagan
This day, you will take the overland journey from Nyaung Shwe to the ancient city of Bagan. Home to the highest concentration of Buddhist temples, pagodas, stupas and ruins, with some dating back to the 11th and 12th centuries, Bagan is situated along the banks of the Ayeyarwady (Irrawaddy) River. Later in the day, you will check into your hotel in Bagan to relax and spend the night.
Day 6: Bagan Temple Tour
Begin your journey with a visit to the elevated temple, offering a panoramic view of the stunning plains of Bagan. Afterwards, explore the golden Shwezigon Pagoda – a prototype monument, constructed in Myanmar style in 1087. Finally, head to Gubyaukgyi Cave Temple @ Wetkyi-Inn Village to admire the jataka mural paintings, and the exquisite Htilominlo Temple, featuring exquisite plaster carvings and glazed sandstone decorations.
This afternoon, explore traditional lacquer ware production and observe Myanmar’s famous handicrafts. Then, admire the architectural magnificence of Ananda Temple, one of Bagan’s most beautiful sites. Built in the Early Mon-style, marvel at the two unique Buddha images that seem to change expression depending on the distance from which they are viewed. Visit the highest temple of Bagan, Thatbyinnyu, and admire the impressive brickwork of Dhammayangyi Temple and Sulamani Temple. Finally, take in an unforgettable sunset over the plains from the upper terrace of one of the temples. Overnight in Bagan.
Day 7: Bagan – Mandalay & Mandalay Tour
Today you will take the overland journey from Bagan to Mandalay, arriving in the afternoon. Transfer to your hotel to check in and relax. Later, explore the city and visit the renowned Mahamuni Pogada. Marvel at the 13ft-high sated Buddha image and the renowned ‘World’s Biggest Book’ at Kuthodaw Pagoda. Admire the grand teak building of Shwenandaw Monastery and its exquisite wood carvings. Finally, ascend Mandalay Hill to experience the breathtaking views of the city and the Irrawaddy River. Day 8: Mandalay – Mingun – Sagaing
We’ll be exploring the historic sites around Mandalay today. Visiting iconic attractions like Mingun’s grand stupa, Sagaing’s temple-filled hills, and U Bein’s Bridge in Amarapura. First, we’ll drive to the Mingun Pagoda. Then, we’ll see the Mingun Bell, the world’s largest uncracked bell. Lastly, we’ll take a visit to a Buddish nursing home for the elderly with no family, who are always grateful for donations (on your own account). Enjoy your lunch at a local restaurant.
Return to land by boat and take the journey to Sagaing, the spiritual hub of Myanmar, crossing the Irrawaddy River. Witness the numerous white-and-gold stupas that adorn this ancient city. Visit Swan OoPon Nya Shin and U Min ThoneSae, as well as 3,000 monks and 100 meditation centers. Tour Sagaing’s local market, which offers a variety of goods for sale such as pottery, silverware and handmade items. Stop by a pottery village to observe how the standard water pots of Myanmar are crafted. Finally, take a walk across U Bein Bridge – the world’s longest teak bridge, which is 200 years old – and take in the picturesque views of the rivers and farms. Spend the night in Mandalay.
