Highlights of Myanmar Tour 11 Days

The Myanmar tour 11 days is an incredible journey of discovery. You start in Yangon and explored the bustling city, taking in its fascinating culture, colorful markets and beautiful pagodas.

From Yangon, you head south to Bagan, the capital of the ancient kingdom of Pagan, where you visit the incredible Buddhist temples and ruins and take a hot air balloon ride over the World Heritage Site.

You then journey to Mandalay, the cultural center of the country. We visit some of the most impressive royal palaces and temples, and you even have the chance to discover a local market.

From Mandalay, you travel to Pindaya, the gateway to the beautiful Inle Lake. Here you spend time on the lake, taking in the stunning sunsets and watching the locals in their traditional fishing boats.

You then head to the Golden Rock, a legendary pagoda perched precariously on the side of a mountain. You admire the incredible view and paid our respects at the shrine.

You final stop is Bago, a small town of monasteries and markets. You explore the town and enjoy the local cuisine before heading back to Yangon to complete your 11-day Myanmar tour program.

Day 1: Arrival Yangon – City Tour


Upon arrival in Yangon (formerly Rangoon), you will be welcomed by your guide who will accompany you to your hotel. This charming city is known for its impressive colonial and spiritual heritage, making it one of the most captivating cities in Southeast Asia. Please note that early check-in is subject to room availability.
This afternoon, take a tour of Yangon’s city center, seeing various historical and colonial buildings along the way. Start with a visit to Sule Pagoda, a 2200-year-old temple surrounded by government buildings and commercial shops. Next, pass by Mahabandoola Park, home to the Independent Monument. Continue your journey to City Hall, a little India, and a little China. Finally, end your day at the majestic Shwedagon Pagoda, one of the wonders of the world. Built 2500 years ago, it is home to relics of Buddha and a place for devoted Buddhists to pray and meditate. Enjoy the breathtaking views of the golden stupa from this vantage point before returning to your overnight accommodation in Yangon.

Day 2: Yangon – Bagan & Bagan Sightseeing


This morning, transfer to the airport and take off for Bagan (NyaungOo) – home to the largest and densest collection of ancient Buddhist temples, pagodas and stupas in the world. Upon arrival, begin your journey with a panoramic view from a temple and then explore the golden Shwezigon Pagoda, constructed in Myanmar style in 1087. Afterwards, visit the Gubyaukgyi cave temple @ Wetkyi-Inn Village, renowned for its jataka mural paintings, and then the Htilominlo Temple with its intricate plaster carvings and sandstone decorations.
This afternoon, explore traditional lacquer ware production and witness one of Myanmar’s most iconic handicrafts. Journey on to Ananda Temple, an architectural wonder and one of Bagan’s most stunning temples. Admire the two unique Buddha images, which change expression depending on where you stand. Then, visit Thatbyinnyu, Bagan’s tallest temple, massive Dhammayangyi, known for its remarkable brickwork, and Sulamani Temple. End the day with a breathtaking sunset view from one of the terraces. Spend the night in Bagan.

Day 3: Bagan – Mt. Popa – Bagan


Pause temple touring in Bagan and explore Mt Popa, a 1518 metre high extinct volcano that has been important to Myanmar culture, religion and history. Here, you will pay tribute to the 37 Burmese ancient Nats, animist spirits. The climb is optional!
On your way back to Bagan, you will stop at a local village. See how the locals use the fruit of the palm tree to make wine and molasses. After the tour, transfer to your hotel and take time for rest.

Day 4: Bagan – Mandalay City Tour


Starting your journey today, you will make the overland drive from Bagan to Mandalay, arriving in the afternoon to transfer to the hotel for check in and relaxation. Afterward, you’ll visit the iconic Mahamuni Pogada, a 13ft-high sated Buddha image. Then, you’ll explore Kuthodaw Pagoda, whose 729 marble stone slabs of Buddhist scriptures have earned it the title of ‘World’s Biggest Book’. Afterward, you’ll visit Shwenandaw Monastery, the only surviving building from the 19th century Royal Palace. This grand teak building is renowned for its exquisite woodcarving. Finally, you’ll ascend Mandalay Hill to marvel at the magnificent views of the city and Irrawaddy River.

Day 5: Mandalay – Mingun – Sagaing


Today we investigate the renowned destinations around Mandalay, including Mingun’s immense stupa, Sagaing’s temple-filled slopes and U Bein’s Bridge in Amarapura.
First, we head to Mingun Pagoda. Then, experience the world’s most noteworthy uncracked bell, Mingun Bell. Across the road, visit a Buddhist nursing home for family-less elderly people and contribute (on own account). Afterward, relish our lunch at a nearby eatery.
We return to dry land by boat and take a drive across the Irrawaddy River to Sagaing. Admire the countless white-and-gold stupas that make up the religious center of Myanmar. Delve into its spiritual atmosphere, with 3000 monks and 100 meditation centers. Visit famous pagodas such as Swan OoPon Nya Shin and U Min ThoneSae. Be sure to visit the local market offering pottery, silver and other handmade items. We also stop at a small pottery village to witness the making of the water pots that can be spotted in most places of the country. After touring this tranquil site, continue to the 200-year-old U Bein Bridge, the world’s longest teak bridge. Enjoy the fabulous views of the farms and streams while strolling along the bridge.

Day 6: Mandalay – Pindaya – Inle Lake


After breakfast, embark on an overland drive to Pindaya and be captivated by the patchwork of fields, hedges, buffalo carts, and farmers in black Danu tunics and checked Pa-O headscarves. Upon arrival, visit the celebrated Shwe Oo Min Natural Cave Pagoda, a massive limestone cavern housing thousands of golden Buddha statues. Then, head to the north to Kan Tau monastery; marvel at its fine teak structure and sizable selection of antique Buddha images on ornate plinths. Afterwards, visit a workshop where umbrellas and souvenirs are made with Shan recycled papers. After your tour in Pindaya, drive to Nyaung Shwe, the gateway village to Inle Lake.

Day 7: Inle Lake Tour


Take a private motorboat to visit Inle Lake, one of Myanmar’s most spectacular attractions. Sail past villages constructed on stilts above the lake, seeing the leg-rowers and their floating gardens. Then, visit Phaung Daw Oo Pagoda, renowned for its 800-year-old Five Buddha statues covered with gold leaf.
Next, explore the crafts of the lake with a stop at Inpawkhone’s weaving village and a cheroot factory, where Burmese cigars are made using traditional methods. If possible, take a short walk through one of the lakeside villages.

Day 8: Heho – Yangon City Tour


Transfer to the airport after breakfast for your flight back to Yangon. Upon arrival, visit the renowned Chauk Htat Gyi Pagoda, built in 1966 to replace the older 1907 structure, to marvel at the huge image of a reclining Buddha. Take the option to explore Kandawgyi Lake and its surrounds and get excellent photo opportunities. Lastly, don’t miss out on the opportunity to shop at Bogyoke market (formerly “Scott market”) to pick up Myanmar handicrafts, jewelry, fabrics and lacquer ware.

Day 9: Yangon – Golden Rock


After breakfast, we take an overland drive to Kyaik Hto, a 4-hour journey. En route, we stop at the Htaukkyant War Cemetery. Upon arriving at the pilgrim-village, we board a truck and begin our trek up the hill to the famous Golden Rock. It will take roughly an hour to reach the summit and enjoy the spectacular sunset. The Golden Rock is a sacred, massive boulder coated in gold-leaf, precariously balanced on the edge of Mt. Kyaikhtiyo and is one of the most venerated Buddhist shrines.

Day 10: Golden Rock – Bago – Yangon


We return to Yangon after breakfast by open-air truck and make a stop at Bago. Also known as Pegu, the town has a rich history, being the capital of the Mon Kingdom in the 15th century. Learn the legends of Bago during this visit.
Exploring Bago with guide, we get to learn about the city’s history and myths. Highlights include the 55-metre long reclining Shwethalyaung Buddha, the four seated Buddhas at Kyaikpun, the old palace of Kambozathadi, and the golden Shwemawdaw Pagoda towering at 114 meters tall – higher than Yangon’s Shwedagon Pagoda. Moreover, we have the opportunity to visit the local market and a Mon neighborhood that used to be home to a community of weavers. At the end of the day, we return to Yangon and transfer to the hotel.

Today is our time to relax at the hotel before we depart for our flight.
