Day 1: Arrive Yangon
Upon arrival, your guide will welcome you and provide transportation to your hotel for an overnight stay in Yangon.
Day 2: Yangon City Tour
Discover the charm of Yangon, formerly known as Rangoon, on a tour around its city center. Start the morning with a visit to Sule Pagoda, a 2200-year-old temple surrounded by government buildings and commercial shops. Then, pass by Mahabandoola Park and the Independent Monument, followed by City Hall, a little India and a little China. End at Bogyoke Market (closed on Mondays and public holidays), where you can browse a wide selection of Myanmar handicrafts and other goods. Explore the impressive colonial and spiritual heritage of one of the most fascinating cities in Southeast Asia.
Visit Chaukhtatgyi Pagoda, one of Myanmar’s most stunning reclining buddhas, with its crown adorned with diamonds and other gems. Admire the feet of the statue, intricately carved with traditional symbols, and observe locals paying homage and praying. End your day at the remarkable Shwedagon Pagoda, a 2500-year-old structure that houses relics of the Buddha and serves as a place of meditation and prayer. Day 3: Yangon – Bagan Temple Tour
Transfer to the airport this morning to fly to Bagan (NyaungOo), situated alongside the Ayeyarwady (Irrawaddy) River. Bagan has the highest concentration of Buddhist temples, pagodas, stupas and ruins in the world, some of which date back to the 11th and 12th centuries.
Start your journey at the elevated temple for a breathtaking view of the Bagan plains. Then, visit the Shwezigon Pagoda, a golden Myanmar-style landmark built in 1087. Next, head to Gubyaukgyi Cave Temple in Wetkyi-Inn Village to admire its jataka mural paintings, followed by the Htilominlo Temple known for its plaster carvings and glazed sandstone decorations.
Begin the afternoon in Bagan with a visit to a traditional lacquer ware workshop and witness the crafting of one of Myanmar’s renowned handicrafts. Continue on to the majestic Ananda Temple – an architectural marvel and one of the city’s loveliest temples. Built in the early Mon-style, the temple is home to two iconic Buddha images that seem to change their expressions as one moves away from them. Hop on a horse cart for a tour of the area, including the towering Thatbyinnyu, the towering Dhammayangyi Temple known for its remarkable brickwork and Sulamani Temple. As the day culminates, soak in the breathtaking sunset over the plains from the upper terrace of one of the temples before spending the night in Bagan.
Day 4: Bagan City Tour
After breakfast at your hotel, you head to Nyaung Oo Market where villagers gather daily to purchase and sell their items and other commodities. Then, you proceed to Myinkaba village and take a short stroll to explore the Manuha and Nan Paya temples. Afterwards, you can explore additional temples in the vicinity, visit more craft stores or return to your hotel for a rest and to beat the midday heat.
Explore Minnanthu, one of Bagan’s lesser-visited villages, this afternoon. You’ll find Payathonzu, Lemyentha, and Nandamannya temples there. Afterwards, board a boat on the Irrawaddy River to take a leisurely cruise. Enjoy the sights of fishermen and riverside villagers and witness Bagan’s temples from a unique angle. Return to your hotel this evening and stay overnight in Bagan.
Day 5: Bagan – Yangon - Departure
Drive to Nyaung U Airport after breakfast and take the flight to Yangon. Upon arriving, transfer to Yangon International Airport for your departure flight.
